Not Your Mother’s Swimwear

Hey hey, Sof here!

Swimsuit season is upon us lady and gents. Do you know what that means? The swimsuit hunt is on and bikini pics are going on the gram! Therefore, us ladies need to have our collections in tip top shape.

That is why I have compiled my favorite findings in the swimsuit category and organized them in this sweet little list. I have sectioned my suits into three sections; fast fashion, Tj Maxx & Marshalls and a #TreatYoSelf for my boujee girls.

Overall my collection mostly consists of suits from the Tj Maxx & Marshalls section. Why, you ask? Because this girl likes her designer names but limits herself to a budgeted swimsuit allowance. Thankfully our friends at these discount retailers have gals like us in mind and put out the cutest swim pieces at an even cuter price.

For the suits pictured I will link where to buy them, and if not available I will link a similar one. ;)

Fast Fashion

Forever 21

Now, I am aware that the fast fashion industry is ‘cancelled’ for its lack of sustainability efforts .   I entirely agree that this type of  pollution is a no go for our environment, especially because the fashion industry is one of the main contributors to our planet’s pollution.

That being said, I have purchased these bathing suits over the past several years prior to my newfound knowledge.  Needless to say, these pieces are still staples in my collection that I would like to share with you all.

Here in this pic, I am sporting one of my most worn swimsuits.  Ever.  I purchased it from Forever 21 on a whim for a February trip to Florida.  Little did I know, this piece would last and become a staple in my collection.

Asos

Now.  If you have not dabbled into the beautiful world of asos.com, then sis you are missing out. The Asos assortment has everything that any fashion lover could ever want. Fast shipping? Yes. Good quality pieces? Yes.  Broad assortment of name brands? Yes and yes!

That being said, their swimsuit selection is SUPERB.  I have always resorted to this oasis when shopping for suits, and this pom pom detailed suit is no exception! She is a cute, fun, flirty number that is great for an Insta Op.

Also - for my short gals, Asos has a BEAUTIFUL petite section! The heavens are calling our names honeys.

Tj Maxx & Marshalls

Isabella Rose

Now, as I mentioned at the beginning, this section is where it’s at.  Tj Maxx and Marshalls just know how to do swimwear.

This set is one of my favs and I will hold onto it for a long time.  It has cute  string detailing on the top and banding on the sides of the bottoms.  The bum coverage is not too modest, but it ain’t too cheeky either.

The Isabella Rose brand is one I can stand behind.  The designs are trendy and cute, while still providing decent quality.  I am not sure this would be a suit that I would purchase at full price, but for the discount I dig it.

The color is not a hue I would typically go for, but once ya girl has a tan going on, I am committed.

Cabana Del Sol

This is a swimsuit label that I had not heard of prior to my seasonal swim shopping last summer.  But, I am glad that I did come across this set.

The texture of these swimsuits is unique.  The material is almost a waffle like fabric and is durable.  This style is one that I do not have to worry about moving around while in the water and the style is very much on #trend.

As for the bum coverage, it is perfect for my liking.  It’s a little cheeky, yet still a vibe for when around the fam.  I love this suit, and wish I was able to find it in other colors/patterns.

Hoaka Swimwear

This is a swimwear brand that I stumbled upon in my deep Instagram searches.  Luckily I did, because these swimsuits are such a great purchase if you are looking to spend a little extra $$$$.

The styles that Hoaka designs are a little unique, so as a consumer we know we are purchasing pieces that not every other gal has.  In addition, their quality is really durable.  These bathing suits remind me of the neoprene designs from the Triangl brand, but slightly more affordable and have different styles.

Their sizing is also worth mentioning.  They run true to size and offer sizing in small + and small ++.  This was great especially for girls like me, with a smaller body size in comparison to my bust.   I ordered the small +, which fit perfectly!  In addition, they sell their bottoms and tops separately.  This is also great for gals that are different sizes on top than bottom.

This blue suit pictured is my first purchase from the brand, and I plan on expanding my collection.  These suits are definitely of quality that last.

Def go and check em’ out sis!

Everything But Water

This retailer is both online and brick and mortar.  They sell a vast variety of high end swimsuits. (Tea - some of these suits can actually be found at Marshalls and TJMaxx).

Needless to say, Everything But Water does have a great selection of designer swimsuit brands for the gal that is willing to splurge.  Their tops are available in a wide variety of sizing (including bra sizing), and bottoms range in coverage.  In addition, their bottoms can be purchased separately, which is great because most girls are not the same size on top as they are on bottom.

This is actually my only swim set purchased directly from Everything But Water, as I tend to buy these same bathing suits at my discounted spots.  Nonetheless, Everything But Water is still the plug for a good suit!
